About Us
Plantation Ladies is a nonprofit organization that began more than 50 years ago to bring women who live on AmeliaI Island Plantation together. Started in 1974, by Margaret Bowman and Marge Crawford, the goal was, and continues to be, bringing women together for informative, interesting, rewarding, fun events!
We are a welcoming group of women from various backgrounds and areas of the country who have moved here for the relaxed, yet stimulating life offered by Amelia Island and the greater Jacksonville area. It is an active group of women who enjoy getting to know their neighbors and socializing with them in a beautiful setting, Members have many opportunities to learn more about Amelia Island and surrounding Northeast Florida and the natural and cultural resources that abound. An active Community Outreach program fosters awareness of the needs in the community and contributes regularly to area charities and civic projects.
We meet four times a year in October, December, March and May for luncheons. These meetings feature guest speakers from local charities who provide insightful and inspiring information along with special guests who provide entertainment for members and their guests. In addition, unique Interest Groups provide the membership with many special events during the year for their enjoyment. Other activities may be offered depending on members’ interests. Day trips or special shopping events may also be included in the annual calendar.
Membership is open to all women who are or have been property owners or spouses/significant others of property owners on Amelia Island Plantation or associated properties (Brady Point, The Residence, The Sanctuary, The Retreat) and to members or spouses/significant others of members of the Amelia Island Equity Club. Interested women are welcome to join at any time during the year.
If you are interested in joining the PLA, please see our membership form under menu item "Join".
